In her first architectural
role, Máire designed a village for people with learning
difficulties, sheltered accommodation for elderly people
and an extension to a doctor's surgery. Her continuing
involvement in health buildings has included a Maternity
Hospital, and work with the Medical Architecture Research
Unit (MARU) advising on the design of primary care developments
in London with GPs and Health Authorities. Her work
with Ann Noble Architects has included the design of
primary care centres, audits of primary care estates
for Trusts and Family Health Service Authorities, the
facilitation of workshops with clinical staff, and participation
in the development of LIFT bids. She has been the project
architect for a number of primary healthcare facilities,
and undertaken feasibility studies for refurbishment
and re-provision of GP premises. She has a longstanding
interest in housing for people with disabilities, and
in architectural education.
