The Millennium Village was
sponsored by the Government as an environmentally sustainable
residential development on a brownfield site. The school
and health centre, commissioned by English Partnerships,
also had to meet high standards of environmentally sustainable
performance. The health centre generated the need to achieve
a balance between the preferred environmental systems
and required standards of confidentiality and limiting
the potential spread of infection within the building.
The building is designed to provide a range of flexible
spaces which can accommodate future developments in services.
Our understanding of primary care, and the implications
of developing trends for an increasing range of services
to be delivered, enabled us to create a design that proactively
supports the provision of new services and will meet the
needs of the future.
In addition to being part of the Design Team, Ann Noble
Architects was commissioned by the PCT to develop their
brief for the Centre.
